My Blog is as Dry as Melba Toast

You know what I mean.

I can't think of anything to write, my blog is boring, and I don't want to do my homework. I guess it's time for bed.

But just a quick update...Mark and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day with his family then went to see my family the next day and stayed the weekend. We got a Christmas tree on Friday and I can't wait to put it up in my apartment. Aren't holidays kind of melancholy? I love them to death, but I think it is so sad to leave your family when it's all over. I miss them already.

Now all I have to do is make it through the next couple of weeks, then it's on to a whole month of freedom and a vacation to the Mediterranean!

Here's a thankful note: I'm thankful we have a car that works. Last year on the Sunday before finals week, our car went KAPUT. So not only did we not have a car, but we didn't have a car during the winter OR the holidays.
So thank goodness for our beast of a Sable.

Reasons to Be Thankful--Day 6

1. I am really thankful for my job. Especially because my company just laid off nine people, and thankfully, I wasn't one of them. Phew.

on a lighter note...

2. I'm thankful for warm weather in the middle of November! I mean, who could complain about that? I'm thankful that I haven't had to deal with Old Man Winter (or any of his friends) yet.

3. I'm thankful there's only 11 more days left in the semester. Helllooo Christmas break!

4. Lastly, I'm especially thankful that my neighbor was so understanding about her flower pot that Mark and I accidentally broke this morning. I admit--I spent all day feeling bad about it. Thankfully she told me she was going to throw it away anyways. Another phew.

...but I still feel bad.

And I'm not quite sure what picture to put here, so I hope you'll enjoy this Thanksgiving-esque cartoon. :)

Reasons to Be Thankful--Day 5

1. I'm thankful for Silk.
Mmmm.

2. I'm thankful for the Aggie Shuttle that is always there to aid me in my days of laziness.

3. I'm thankful for my blazing hot apartment--probably the only time in my life when I'll get to  experience 90 degree temperatures in the winter.

I should probably add some information to this one. We live in a house and our upstairs neighbors control the heat. Since we are in the basement and the pipes run through our ceiling, all the heat goes directly into our apartment, which is already roasting.
But I really am thankful, because we don't have to pay for utilities.

Wordpress?

For a few months now, I've been debating on whether or not to switch to Wordpress. Anyone else thinking this? Any suggestions?

Reasons to Be Thankful--Day 4

Enjoy another thankful post full of random images scrounged up from the internet.

1. I am thankful for warm showers on cold mornings.

2. I'm thankful for the cute squirrels on campus. They always make me smile.

3. I'll be forever thankful for the kind people of HP who fixed Mark's fan and motherboard in his computer for $0. Now that's customer service.

Reasons to Be Thankful--Day 3

1. I am thankful for the right to vote and for all the people who made it possible for me to do so.  I actually voted for once!

(I hope you don't mind the late-night bleary-eyed picture.)

2. I am thankful for a new president that record amounts of Americans helped to elect.

3. I'm thankful to be an American.

And it's stories like this that make me proud.

Reasons to Be Thankful--Day 2

Get ready for blog overload!

For the month of November, I've decided to do a post each day (or at least a few times a week) about things I'm thankful for. So here's a few more to add to the list.

1. Nie Nie--I don't even know this lady, but I've heard Whitney talk about her so I thought I'd check her out. She has a blog about being a mother, wife and lady. I've been reading more of her posts lately, and she has managed to sum up the exact way that I've always wanted to be as a mother. I couldn't have found this blog at a better time because it has given me more of a purpose and I feel a lot more optimistic about life.

and she's LDS, too. :)

2. The D.I.--I'm obsessed with this thrift store. I would say a good 99% of the decorations in my apartment are things that I've found there. Now that's decorating on a college budget. Most of the time, I have to just tell myself to leave before I buy too much. Here are a few of my favorite finds from the D.I.

I love collages of frames and mirrors, especially old ones. (Please excuse the empty frames...I'm still working on it.)

Finding old pitchers there is like finding gold. I have to buy them--I can't resist!

Love, love gold framed pictures.

One of the more unique finds, this is from Germany!

And perhaps one of my favorite reasons to love the D.I.--the never-ending array of plates. I love to buy hangers and put them on my wall.

Now if only I could paint my walls some fabulous colors...

A good dose of Nie and some shopping at Deseret Industries....ahh, perfect.
